Miss S

Curiosity drives us, but what we’re curious about differs from person to person. That curiosity can lead you to try new foods, rock a new hairstyle, or step out of your comfort zone. For Miss S, she was curious about boudoir, and we’re thrilled she trusted us to help her explore that curiosity.

Miss S

We met at a women’s networking event, and after talking for a while about our various services, we could tell there was a connection. There was something in the way she really paid attention to what we were saying, how her eyes would light up as we shared what we hope to bring out of our clients. When Miss S booked her session later on, we needed to know: why?

“You seem like a pro that truly supports women,” was her response.

That one line set the tone for what was undoubtably gong to be an amazing shoot. She understood at the get-go what we’re all about her at Aishiteru. But we knew there was more to her story, and we were eager to hear it.

“I’m looking forward to having images that show how plus-size women and minorities are beautiful. You don’t have to be perfect to do this or to get in front of the camera. For me, personally, I’m doing this to get more comfortable in front of the camera and to connect with other women in business,” Miss S shared with us.

Now, confidence didn’t seem to be an issue; she was energetic, warm, and shared a beautiful smile. However, when it came to certain features, there was some hesitance. She shared that, while she loves to show off her eyes, smile, and décolletage, she’s less comfortable with her chin area and underarms.

We wanted to know just how beautiful she felt on any given day, and like many women, it was only when she had her hair and makeup done, paired with a cute outfit. Miss S shared with us that as she prepared for her shoot, she was confident that she could do it, and was excited to step out of her comfort zone. However, she was nervous in front of the camera. That last one we knew we could easily change.

The shoot itself was an amazing experience. Not only did Miss S really embrace the process, but the transformation we could see throughout the session was amazing. While she definitely had the confidence going in, during the shoot, she took it to a whole other level.

When asked about her favorite part of the day, Miss S shared that it was “being surrounded by open-minded women who supported me in this endeavor. The beauty team made me feel so comfortable and beautiful before getting in front of the lens. I also enjoyed ‘getting into character’ to convey a sexy side that other people rarely see. I learned that I am definitely NOT a model, but I also learned that it wasn’t about being one. It’s all about the process.

“From styling my shoot to being open with friends that I was doing this, it built up my confidence so much. It really confirmed for me that my body, although it doesn’t fit the common standard for ‘beauty,’ is just as beautiful as any body. The confidence I have is what people really see.”

We absolutely loved the personal definition of beauty that Miss S shared with us. Because each person is different, their definition of beauty may be different. To take ownership of that in the way Miss S did was so inspiring, and showed that she understood why we love the art of boudoir.

As the session came to a close, we kept up the conversation and asked how she thought other women could benefit from this experience:

“I think that a lot of self-discovery can come from an experience like this. It gives us the opportunity to allow ourselves to be seen in a way that is rarely shared. There’s something about the female energy and camaraderie that happens in doing a shoot like this that can boost your confidence, elevate how we feel about other women, and how powerful we are when we work together.”

Thank you, Miss S, for this shared experience, your inspiring words, and for your trust in us.
